The Community of restaurants collected nearly £8,000 in one appeal night in 2013 and decided that these donations should be sent to CRP through the Valerie Taylor Trust. The donations were coordinated by Saddak Miah.
On 15 May, Valerie was able to receive the cheque at a well attended meeting of sponsors in the Asian community in Lozells Road, Birmingham. Principal guests were the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Khalid Mahmood, MP for Perry Barr and Jacqui Smith, Chair of QE Hospital.
David Newell, VTT trustee, introduced Valerie. He was Oxfam director in Bangladesh 1979 and a key person helping Valerie to set up CRP 35 years ago.
