Inaugural Meeting – 30 September 2007

Valerie Taylor, OBE, founded the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed, Bangladesh twenty-eight years ago. The work continues apace; patients are being cared for, wards are clean and staff are being paid. While there are management problems, these are being addressed.

You may then have been as distressed, if you heard that the trustees of the UK Friends of CRP (FCRP) had ceased supporting the Centre for reasons that do not seem valid to us. Efforts to persuade the FCRP trustees to change their stance have met with no success. Sadly, the withdrawal of UK support leaves CRP in urgent need of funds.

As many UK residents wish to continue to support Valerie and her work, a group of people has set up the Valerie Taylor Trust to enable them to do so. Of course, the trustees of the new organisation must ensure that funds are properly accounted for and will certainly do so if necessary by, for instance, paying for an advisor to visit CRP and ensure that systems are appropriate and accounting staff are properly trained.

We have arranged the inaugural meeting of the Valerie Taylor Trust on Sunday 30 September 2007 at Shimla Pinks Restaurant, 65 – 69 London Road, Leicester (Near the Station) at 2pm.

Valerie will provide an overview of the situation at CRP, answer questions and request support for the work in Bangladesh, especially for the poorest patients.

Valerie is an inspiring speaker and we would be delighted if you would join us.
