Rana Plaza Tragedy

The building was very close to CRP in Savar. The eight-storey building collapsed on the morning of 24th April 2013.

A well equipped CRP medical team immediately went to the disaster area to help the injured victims and provide support. Meanwhile, back at CRP, huge number of CRP staff and employees donated and collected bloods which are very crucial for this kind of tragic accidents. There is a dedicated reception area and separate ward for the victims of the disaster. CRP Staff are now active in other hospitals and medical centres ensuring that all those paralysed or need amputations are receiving appropriate care. They are also co-ordinating their response with other NGOs that deal with disability.

Our hearts go out to the victims of this disaster, their families and the staff at CRP who have responded to the crisis. The Valerie Taylor Trust is Launching an appeal to assist CRP in this emergency work. Please read the letter from VTT chairman Bertie Woolnough CBE and donate in any way you can.
