Valerie Taylor at Annual Meeting

Lunch
This year’s Supporters Meeting on 17 May began again with a terrific curry lunch prepared by Kokhon (Mokhtar Hossein) and his helpers.

This was also a chance for Valerie to meet supporters.

Cat Newton-Grove, seen above with Valerie, spoke warmly of her time last year at CRP helping staff and students with conversational English. One of her most inspiring tasks was working with some of the Rana Plaza victims to give them basic English skills.

Valerie began by pointing out that CRP was celebrating 35 years of existence, and thanked all those who had supported it on this journey. She then showed pictures of the aftermath of the Rana Plaza tragedy, speaking movingly of Rozina, whose arm had to be amputated but who now, after months of treatment, would soon be opening a small shop.
She also spoke of encouraging developments in CRP’s regional centres (at Chittagong, Maulvi Bazaar, Rajshahi and Barisal). CRP’s new 5-year strategy emphasises the importance of maintaining the quality of the courses CRP provides, especially the BA’s in Pysiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech and Language Therapy.
